As for the whisky? Regrettably, it's out of my price range.

Your hot dogs have a good meat to bun ratio; keep making hot dogs, it'll free up money for your whisky budget. :D

That is one thing I don't like about Ontario ... the LCBO controls everything. While I am actually supportive of the LCBO and the fact that it brings a ton of money into public coffers, I truly dislike that I can not order alcohol online at all. There are so many online services and some of them (Master of Malt in particular) have selections of products that I can never get here. The LCBO will special order just about any alcohol they do not carry but they have a minimum of at least one case and the markup is crazy. If I just wanted to try a bottle or several different bottles that were not carried it is impossible.

I wish I could order from Master of Malt ... sigh ...

It's funny that Masters of Malt should get a mention; I did a review for them a while back:

Hey Comrade, what are the rules for someone in the US sending a bottle to someone in Canada?
Maybe as a gift?

Still not allowed. I know people that have done it with cigars or booze, it's like rolling the dice though as it is a gamble if it gets confiscated or not. A coworker recently ordered cigars off a site in the states and all $400+ of them were confiscated ... he moaned about that for at least a week afterwards, lol! So draconian ... I'm not a heavy drinker but I do enjoy a tipple now and then and I get promo emails from a site called Caskers in the U.S and there are so many things I would love to try but can't. From what I understand, Canadian customs is very good at catching booze, a wild guess from what I have heard puts it at around 50/50, obviously bigger shipments stand a higher chance of being found. I guess a bottle here or there would be more likely to slip by but having never tried myself I am purely speculating.

Edit: The LCBO website says it is possible but they need to be the broker and the tax and surcharge would be a huge markup making it a very expensive proposition. I inquired once for a certain scotch and was told min order was a case but if someone sends it (not ordered through the LCBO) it seems possible.
