Hi all, What is the best way to package and mail fresh meat products.
My idea was to use polybox's but cannot find a supplier in the Bolton area.
Any tips or advice?

Hi Barry

Re the best way to pack for mail.
Personally I would not send any fresh food items by mail, I would use a chilled / frozen courier service.
That said if you are to use the mail I suggest that you pack the product in dry ice or ice packs & maybe freeze before sending, also use a next day parcel service with a before 10 delivery so that the product is not out of chill conditions too long.
Remember you are responsible for the goods up until the best before date.

Exactly as sauasagemaker said it. Find a special delivery service for meat in your area or check out UPS and Federal Express.

The meat should be solid frozen before packing. Wrap it well in bubble plastic wrap with dry ice or frozen jelly ice bags then everything into a Styrofoam box and finally into a cardboard box.

Make sure you inform youself well by the carrier as different carriers have different requirements for shipping fresh food. One thing they all have in common is that they want the parcel to be leak proof.

As for finding packaging material look in the yellow pages of your area phone book or on the internet.
