Ashir

Do you have your own animals? reason why I ask is that casings are the intestines of animals I,m sure you know that, but it is not worth the bother cleaning and curing your own casings unless you intend doing masses of them.It is easier and more cost effective to buy casings in, you can buy a wide range of casings including organic and of coarse different gauge's which is determined by the age of the animal.

casings

Unfortunately it is now illegal to process casings from your own animal. All slaughter and processings of animals must be done at a licensed abbatoir due to the very strict animal health laws.

Not strictly true, as you are still able to do home kills as long as it is for your own consumption and not for re-sale.

But a good practice all the same.

Fatman, Thanhs. I live in Lahore and importing anything in small qty is very cumbersome, quite expensive nad highly unreliable. Even air-freighted packets are often lost
I can go the route of trail and error, so any tried suggestion will be very helpful

It sounds like a cumbersome process. Read here:

Sausage Casing Information

Postby Parson Snows » Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:23 pm

As you are in Lahore you may want to look up the casing information from the SMEDA. Do a Google search for animal casings processing or refer to their web site www.smeda.org.pk you can also find out some casing information in the article Animal Sciences Research and Reviews Special Circular 156 at the address below.
http://ohioline.osu.edu/sc156/sc_156_12.html

As you are in a warm climate do not use the fermentation method.

Hope that this is of some use to you

Kind Regards
