Slugs, slugs and yet more slugs

Postby Abrwstr » Wed Jun 30, 2010 5:58 pm

Hi all,

I apologise in advance to all who have learnt the most easy way to get rid of slugs without the use of chemicals, but for those who have not then try this.
My runner beans and nasturtiums were being eaten by slugs as fast as they were growing, I could not use chemical remedies due to grandchildren and a dog who likes to hide his toys in the plants.
I have often seen the adverts for slug traps baited with beer, but have never tried them.
Monday of this week in desperation, I purchased from a local 99p shop 2 packs of these slug traps each containing 2 traps and then from Tesco a pack of their value lager for 98p.

I baited the traps with the beer and left them overnight, not expecting too much of a result. What a suprise I got the next morning, out of the two traps I set I got approx 30 slugs ang 8 snails, the second night I achieved approx 50% of the first night.

I will wait and see what happens tomorrow.
I can thoroughly recommend this form of pest control, its cheap, effective and safe to children and animals.
I buried the traps in the soil so that only the opening and the lid were showing.
No more nasty pellets for me it's beer traps all the way from now on.

Hope this helps someonne

Regards T.B.

Just a warning

A SYDNEY man is critically ill after eating a slug as a dare, leading authorities to issue health warnings on devouring raw gastropods.

The 21-year-old contracted rat lungworm disease - a rare form of meningitis - after the stunt.

Thanks for the warning Snags but I was only joking, I would not even drink Tescos Value beer on it's own, let alone with slugs and snails in.
Thanks again though, .....................or are you winding me up???????????
