What color have the cure#1?

Postby GiannisK » Wed Nov 20, 2013 5:19 am

Goodmorning to all,

What color have the cure#1?

i bought from the online shop and it's bright white color no pink. Is it right?

I read in Internet that the right color is pink no white.

In the U.S. they add a small amount of red dye to Cure #1 to make it pink, this is a safety measure to ensure it is not accidently used as salt. However, the stuff I buy in Canada is white although it has the exact same level of nitrite (6.25%) as the U.S. stuff. So to answer your question, U.S. cure is pink, most of the rest of the world it is white so you are ok.

Guess we have white #1 just to show we are different - what a waste of energy. Glad you asked Giannis as I just received my first order and was scratching my head too.
