janedouglas there is no specific amount it will cure.

Please be careful this chemical can kill you in inappropriate amounts. Please follow the Easy Ham Recipe exactly.

May I respectfully suggest you read through the forums to understand these chemicals, for you're own safety. It took a couple of months of research, before I was confident enough to use cure#1, cure#2 and saltpetre.
