Saltpetre.

The last time I bought saltpetre for curing, it was manufactured by Thornton and Ross. On the box it said for domestic use only and not recommended for food use. I have three questions to ask:
1) Is the saltpetre you supply suitable for food use (I assume it is otherwise you would not sell it)?
2) Is it legal to use saltpetre in curing food which would be sold to the public?
3) Does the Food Standards Agency have any recommendations on its use?
