Just come across this newspaper article on a local pie shop in my home town. Hope the business continues, would be a real shame to lose them.

I like the b&w photo of the local bobby stopping the queue from obstructing the pavement, shows how popular those pies were ! Sounds like they average about 5000 pies a week - that's good going for a little corner shop.

This is how the shop looks now,

Funnily enough, unlike Melton Mowbrays, these pork pies are normally eaten hot/warm which can be a bit messy seeing as the stock won't be set...Lets see if Brican can get a franchise for the ex-pats in Canada and save the pies !!!

With today being St Patrick's Day a corned beef pie sounds good. Or pierogi. Or pasties.

It's a shame that living in one of the highest restaurant per-capita places in the states, we get to test all of the latest ideas from corporate restaurants, and apparently the local German-American Festival claims to have the largest beer garden outside of Munich... and yet meat pies are hard to come by. What is the world coming to?
