Brine pumps are easily found (on the mother site here for example) but they are ~100 and a bit OTT for most of us. Have you considered ink cartridge refill needles? such as here:

http://www.bsprintcartridges.com/asp/re ... yringe.asp

Larger syringes can probably be picked up at the chemists, but I expect (or rather hope) that needles would be harder to come by.

I and others on sausagemaking bought a big 50ml syringe and canula from ebay:

http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Syr ... 19QQsofpZ0

It works quite well for hams.

You can get a pump from this site and a similar one from other sausage supply sites for around 100.

You beat me Sauc.

If you want to get needles from ebay, for pumping, I suggest you get them quick. This was on the syringe shop on ebay. I have just bought a few cannulas and a couple of 50ml syringes to keep me going.

THE SYRINGE SHOP wrote:Please note that ebay have removed our listings because they believe these products are only available with a prescription. We would like to assure our customers that this is NOT the case. It is not illegal to possess or sell any needles and/or syringes in the UK. Whilst we at Mycoworks do not condone the use of any illicit drug, we are mature enough to accept that it does, and will continue, to occur. The products that we sell make a positive contribution to the minimisation of the spread of HIV (AIDS) and hepatitis viruses. All our products will continue to be available at sales@mycoworks.co.uk

I've no idea :D it was a wacky idea I had this morning and thought I would try out, but I think I will go for the ones lemonD has linked to. But which one, decisions, decisions... I'm not too bothered about a fancy syringe and I can't tell whether the needles are any different.

I think all in all, I've spent about 20 in the syringe shop. I can't see me ever needing to buy any more stuff off them.

This is good because I pump and then dry rub all my meat, I then vacpac them, and stick them in the fridge out of the way, they take up much less room that way. Of course the exceptions are bacon and air dried meats. So the syringes get used quite a lot.

I went for the US one: thanks for the links LJ. I'm sure the UK one would have been fine but there would have always been that niggle that the other one might have been better

Morton's Salt sells an injector pump, replete with a special needle. It is made of stainless steel. The needle, made of stainless has a closed end and several side vents. It is particularly well suited to curing hams and other large pieces of meat because the needle is long and the side vents disperse the brine well. Mine has lasted for years.

I am uncertain as to its availability in the U.K.

There you are dave the same injector. Mind you importing it from the States, is a few pence cheaper, than the BBQ site.

9.99 free delivery

My final bill was 8.00, hopefully it will be here for Christmas

If I'd known I'd have ordered from bbq.co.uk as they've been very helpful to me in the past and I'd rather have sent the business their way

I really ought to start wearing my specs.. thought it was a thread about Brined Noodles...

Must say I have been using the syringes and canulas and they are still in tip-top condition. I always wash them thoroughly and dry them with my small airbrush compressor..

Oddley, Can you give a break down for say 3 kilo of meat how much brine, how much dry rub and the make up of each, or should I start a new thread in the curing section :)
