I've got to pay them a visit myself. Two bags of mine got soaking wet and have turned black with a sooty mould (That's sooty as in black, not Sooty as in Sooty and Sweep!).

The shed's side rotted over the years! It's been there one heck of a long time!

I couldn't do anything about it 'cos I couldn't get into the shed in my wheelchair... ...etc. etc.

That's what comes of relying on others to provide things.

With the new garden design, I'm in control. It'll be done my way or not at all so it won't happen again.

The cherry-wood chips's have been dried out and will hopefully be OK 'cos they're expensive. But I'll get new oak and beech dust for cold smoking, and chips for hot.

The new shed's already installed... ... and 8 large plastic tubs from Wilko's have been bought from their sale at £5 a piece. They're 60 litre so will hold full bags.

A mate, who I introduced to smoking his own salmon, wants half of the dust, so that'll help.

Have you ever thought about sharing a bag of the expensive stuff? I fancy some apple, but if I buy a bag-ful I'll have to live till I'm as old as Methuselah to use it all up!

There's got to be more members who would be interested in sharing?

Yes, i've stated this in the past, & am happy to locate a cheap courier for quantities of the original bag divvied up. we used to use couriers daily for business so not a problem.

Would prefer to make it weight worthwhile with other folk, ie couriers can be from £3.00 upward depending on weight & courier special offers, the price of RM for smaller amounts has priced them out of the market

I have plenty of strong bags / food grade clipseal bags, (capable of taking 1lb of wood dust ..density dependent) that can then be wrapped in commercial courier bags, not a problem.

..My conundrum is which delicious additional csg capable dusts to buy! ...wife is fine with a few more bags stored inside, kid less so... "dad is always ruddy well smoking food 24-7" says she, ..looking forward to her forthright teen years (just round the corner).

I'm happy to share any dust - but for the £40 per bag ones, would only want ¼ bag to keep the cost sensible.

Yes the individual smoker needs to group buy amongst a few people.
I must admit though, I am "nearly" out of both my oak & beech big bags though  ..maybe the daughter is right.

I am going to start using a dedicated storage for my dust, with smaller bags ready weighed & sealed inside in a couple of thermal picnic coolers.
bigger bags now simply get locked in a large strapped down ventilated containers with silica gel bags added (the sort that roll under bed storage) works pretty well wheels.

These are the ones I got:

For the price, they're very good.

He's agreed to split bags of beech and oak with me, so if you want a full bag of those for yourself, that's fine, or if you want to do a 3 way split, I'm sure that'll be fine as well.

I think he may be interested in apple if there were at least 4 of us, I know he uses it in small amounts on salmon. However, if you'd prefer something else, that's also fine by me.

I'll be getting beech and oak chips for hot smoking, I like cherry and hope that the third of a bag that I've got will dry OK 'cos I know that it's really pricey.

I'm in the SW of Leics near Hinckley, LE9 7** when we get it sorted maybe we could meet somewhere central . I'm guessing that Ashwood is probably about the mid-point between us?

As per previous, i've got roughly 1/2 bag left of beech & oak..
Price dependent I'm up for trying out any new woods overall.

I'll ask for basic prices on a few odds & sods & take it from there.

you are correct indeed wheels, (with regard to the distance)

I've been thinking of having a 'day out' purchasing some dust from Ashwood, but as its 270 miles round trip I would have to buy quite a bit to make it worth my while.
I take it that you won't be passing J.23 M6 motorway on your travels then :P

'Hotsmoked' wants £8.50 for 1Kg and I'm not sure if that includes p&p, so if you can be better priced than them, i'll buy from you. I don't use much, but maybe a 5kg batch depending on the best rates/weight the courier charges.

See - you've started something now

Yotmon, what wood variety/ies are you interested in, if I can oblige with some form of splitting , weighing & posting out at cost i'm happy to help.

just to clarify I am talking csg capable burning dust as that's what I use at this point in time, (it keeps me busy as is).

No specialist piano shifters needed for sawdust, just a generous wrap of commercial packaging ..which we have plenty of, ..& boxes.
