This is a nice looking piece of kit

https://www.weberbbq.co.uk/product/webe ... king-unit/

I picked one up in the Black Friday Sales from a UK seller but it was out of stock and so only arrived today. I now need to road test it.

Given that I road tested probably the first ProQ one in the UK, it will be an interesting test.

It's well priced at £25.99.

Will be interesting to read your review - one of the nice things about the ProQ is its all stainless construction. So far mine hasn't corroded and it comes out like new after a few cycles in the dishwasher.I'm sure the Weber is well made, and it looks 'designed', however I'd be keen to know what the solid black surround is made of, and how it stands up to the corrosive effects of the smoke and repeated washing.

Will be interesting to compare it's ability to use various grades of wood dust with the pro Q.
Never did get my bulk buy of dust to work in the pro Q, despite getting is bone dry in an electric oven.
Just refused to stay alight.
Will try sifting it next time- if I can find a suitable riddle.

I bought it off of e bay,it was described as suitable for home smoking.
Looks clean & smells good.
I have come to the conclusion that the particles are too course ( despite originally thinking that this would cause it to burn more quickly)
It was bone dry last time I tried it but would not stay alight.
I intend to sieve it & just use the fine part but yet to find a suitable riddle.
Serves me right for being too tight to buy the " proper" stuff :(

That's disappointing. Could you use it for hot-smoking?

I've done the same, but gave it to someone with a different smoker which I hope to use when the weather turns nice.

I can't recommend Ashwoods highly enough. The total for 15Kg of Oak dust, including VAT and delivery, was £23.57 the last time I bought some. After a bit of microwaving, I've never had an issue with the dust in my ProQ.

There's no option to order online, so the best way is to email or phone them. They were great when I called.

Phone number: 01536 523220
Email: ashwood.ltd@btconnect.com [the one on the website is wrong]

They'll invoice you at some point after the dust is delivered. I think they run the invoice batches once every week or so.

I also buy wood from Ashwoods and can back-up what Kil2k says.

First attempt was aborted as I couldn't keep the dust alight. But I think that was a dust problem rather than anything else as it struggled in the ProQ with significant amounts left un-burnt. The good news is it holds a lot more dust than the ProQ so probably good for longer smokes. I'll try again after a drying session.
