Advice to a potential cold smoker:

Hi, I have been exploring cold smoking options and came across the Thuros S1, a mite expensive but obviously good quality and certainly would last a lifetime of use, however I would prefer to hear of anyone's views who may own or even know someone who owns and uses one, the only downside I see besides the cost is the small size, but then there are only two of us, and all I would be cold smoking would be bacon, cheese and fish in small quantities.
Of course if anyone can point me in the direction of an alternative that they have experience of I would also be happy to be guided by their experiences, I have attached a link to the Thuros range of cold smokers, lok forawrd to any replies.

All stainless steel explains the price. Should outlast anything else you could get.

Have you thought of using a Cold Smoke Generator? They can be used in a container of your choice.

...and yes, they do look expensive for what they are... ...and yes, they are worth every penny!

Hi both
thanks for the comments, still undecided as to how to proceed, but I like the look of the ProQ smoke generator, and can see that if it can be used in a cardboard box, anything within reason could be adapted, and I am now looking at an old two drawer steel filing cabinet I have in the garage gathering dust and may look at converting that into an outdoor cold smoker, that should keep me busy for a while! Regards
Mike

Anything like that, or an old fridge, or as you said, a cardboard box.

I use mine in a Weber kettle grill. If you don't have one of those, this is a perfect excuse to get one. :D
