The one on sausagemaker seems identical (not all stainless)

from their description:
� Removable cylinder and base are made of stainless steel
� Frame is welded cold roll steel, electroplated with nickle

which is the same as the one at grizzly, assuming we are comparing these two:

FWIW,

The 5# vertical stuffer sold by the sausagemaker is exactly the same as the grizzly model. I've been to the Buffalo storefront and seen it with my own eyes. He also sells an all stainless version with stainless single ratio gears, for quite a bit more.

I have spoken to the sales staff and they have assured me that the one they sell is the latest model the TSM ALL Stainless, there web site still shows the old model, this is a mistake! priced exactly the same as the old one �155.

Please bear with me. I'm afraid I was unclear in my previous post.

The 5# vertical stuffer I spoke of is this one.

By my math that's a 21% increase to purchase a TSM model or 300% and 375% mark ups over the Grizzly stuffer, respectively. The sausagemakers store front is a mere 45 minute drive for me and I've been there as recently as June. I can only say that the first stuffer is exactly the same as the stuffer offered by Grizzly, with the exception of the nice little sticker.

Were I affluent enough to lay down $226 for a vertical stuffer I'd probably be inclined to opt for this instead;

I bought this sausage stuff. It is good quality and works well. However, the gears are plastic, so I broke them the first day. I was cranking on it too hard at the end of the run. I'll get replacement parts and be more careful in the future.

I didn't find the process of cranking back up too slow. It cleans up nicely.

I have one of these from Northern tools.

Like other said you get what you pay for. Mine works fine, but I am very careful when using it. The gears are plastic, I believe you could overrun the screw and break it lose or strip the gears off.

Sure beats stuffing through the grinder. When this fail, I will probably upgrade to a better one.

Tulcat--You may want to check into BassPro at Broken Arrow. they have these things on the shelf. Go to the section where the barbecues and smokers are displayed.

I have a Sausagemaker 15 Lb and a Sausagemaker 5 Lb. The 15 Lb is much older and has metal gearing, the 5 Lb has hi-grade nylon or plastic gears. I have heard of some who have had trouple with cheap grade plastic gearing on descount makes and replacing the gearing was expensive.
