Possibly purchasing a Bradley

The cold smoke attachment is a cardboard box type improvised. Bradly, as I know, does not make a attachment, maybe some else does I never seen one. You take the smoking unit off the box, attach to a cardboard box, buy aluminum cloths dryer venting. Attach the dryer vent from cardboard box to Bradly, maybe 4-6' away.

As for size, the standard one is not very big as other commented. They have a stainless larger one, might be worth the extra hundred failing buck.

The original size, well you will have a hard time getting a turkey in there. Last batch of sausage I put in there was 10 lbs, that was to much for the smoker. You do not want sausage to touch while smoking. 5-6 lbs might fit in there ok. Ham, well it would have to be cut in half and maybe it might fit?

Yes only applies to the digital model. In normal use there is a sensor that connects the smoke generator/control unit and the main unit, to take temperature readings. You get a small bypass plug that you plug into the smoke generator/control unit. Apparently it is a small thermistor (?) more info can be found here:

I have one of the older manual Bradley Smokers and my bother-in-law has one of the newer digital Bradley smokers there are a couple of cosmetic differences as well as the obvious digital control.

The digital version allows you set a time you want to stop smoking as opposed to having to turn it off yourself, or use a mains timer thingy, and it�s temperature control is more accurate when you are hot smoking, although the temperature guage and termostat on the manual Bradley is perfectly adequate for most purposes.

The major problem, if it is a problem, is when you want to clod smoke, in that you need to use an external box to get the smoker heat source out of the main smoker box, otherwise it's suprising how much the temperature rises, is the same in both smokers. I made both my external box and my brother in laws, with the digital Bradley all you need to do is place the external box close enough to the main smoker to allow you to plug the temperature ( thermistor ) sensor in.

Does the cardboard box work okay with an aluminium hose, was thinking if I do take the plunge to buy the cold smoke adaptor too, but �70 does seem like a lot.

Anybody tried a smoke pistol? Would be possible to screw it to the side of my Brinkmann, but I don't believe it doesn't get hot.

Hi all

Having used a Bradley for over 20 years (the same one)! I find them to be an excellent bit of kit. But I thought I would list a few pros and cons if that is any help:

Cons:

Pucks are fairly expensive
Cold smoking is a no no unless using a box and tube as illustrated
It does have a tendency for the feed to malfunction. However this is easily rectified by Garka Ltd
The tempraturde dial on the front of the smoker is not very accurate

Pros:

Excellent for smoking small amounts
Smoking process is very quick
Easy to transport due to its weight
Very reliable
Reasonably priced accessories
Easily converted to increase load capacity

Im sure there is more, however cheers for now WW
