Says that it's a leg @ £49.99, weighs 6.5 kg and includes stand, knife and sharpening steel. Don't know who the supplier is but they are available from 12th December.

It appears that Lidl were also selling a cured Ham for £39.99 (without stand/knife, but someone has taken theirs back stating that it had mould on the surface - now reading that Lidl have decided to withdraw the product from sale and could be subject to re-calling the ones already sold. Can't confirm this as yet and will be a great pity if its just 'normal' mould that some novice isn't use to.

I wouldn't worry about something at Lidl being related to ALDI. The two are totally unrelated.

If the quality of the Aldi's Serrano matches the quality of the other high end products they've sold, then expect a scrum to buy them!

Hi Phil, it does appear that lidl have cleared their shelves of the product due to complaints of mould. One complaint I read was that the mould was over an inch long and looked 'wooly'. Doesn't sound like normal powdery mould to me - maybe damp storage conditions have caused it, pity though as they are probably decent hams and nothing that a vinegar soaked cloth wouldn't fix ! Will just have to wait until December for Aldi to get their supplies in.

Saw a few in Lidl last weekend when on the bargain Brie hunt, a couple had been opened for perusal, a wee bit of tufty mould in an area that looks like poorly kept condition (ie a condensation gathering point) no camera to hand, but as described above for sure, "white, woolly tuft or two".

It's a bit strange, but the price for this ham has now dropped to £39.99 from £49.99 yet is only due for sale on/after the 12th Dec. It still includes the knife/carving stand etc. Can't wait to have a good look at one.

Called in my local store this evening and couldn't see any on display - don't know if they hadn't been put out yet or had all been sold !
ps. If you have access to today's Daily Mirror, there is an Aldi £5.00 voucher off a £40.00 spend, so makes it even more of a bargain !

Went to Aldi today at 9.30, all gone! I asked where they were and was told they were sold in half an hour.

It seems there were queues outside our nearest Aldi and they were all gone by 0810. I got there at 0815.

Their Gigondas is jolly nice.

I think you could be right Martin, called in another store today and they told me that they had also sold out straight away and couldn't get any more in - ah well.

£9.99 which is more than their run of the mill wines, but it is nice. Indeed, having just come in from a night of mumming, I have a glass in my hand at this very moment with a nibble of cheese.

Their Crémant de Jura is incredible value at £6.99, I never miss an opportunity to tell my local wine merchant how good it is compared with his equivalent at three times the price.

That's handy to know, thanks. Their 'higher end' products always seem to come out well in reviews.
