Len Poli's main site is down

Postby vagreys » Tue May 17, 2011 9:41 pm

It appears that Len Poli's website is down. It hadn't been updated in over a year. The site containing the recipes is still up; however, the site containing the home page, introductory text, salami discussion, etc., is gone, the parent directory empty since 3 May, and the guestbook empty.

Does anyone have the text discussions from Len's main pages discussing salami and fermented sausage?

Dan, the home.pacbell.net/lpoli directories are down. The recipe and tips collection at lpoli.50webs.com is still accessible, but you have to navigate to it, directly. The photos for text and things are all stored there, too.

ETA: I've located backups I made of the text. Photos are missing, but most of the info is backed up. Probably dumb, but I'd hate to see a good resource like Len's knowledge lost. Perhaps the site will reappear somewhere else.

The Wayback machine could be your friend:

http://www.archive.org

For example:

http://replay.web.archive.org/200807051 ... ge0001.htm

http://replay.web.archive.org/200807061 ... ge0002.htm

If the menu doesn't appear, if you right click it and select "Open link in new tab" it often appears.

I believe that this part of his website is what we're looking for.

I hope nothing happened to him.

Me, too, TJ. He hadn't updated the site since 7 April 2010, but the year before, it had been almost a year before he updated the site, too. I'm glad I took the time to save a backup of the text files. He is such a font of information.

I hope not too. That's what I was worried about.
Patience please, I'm just trying to get on the learning curve.

As of last month, Len is active with the Valley of the Moon Lodge (Sonoma, CA) of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America. It appears he has simply allowed his website to lapse.

Just an update,
I was at Mr Poli's site today and noticed all the old sections have been moved to the 50webs site and working fine.

Another nice thing is, I didn't get a pop-up!

I was just checking out his Resources Page, it's been expanded to include all sorts of link's for information. Even has a link to this forum, (although it didn't work, guess it still has some bugs)

Yep. Everything's updated as of 10/27/2011, and instead of just hosting the recipes, it now hosts everything that used to be at the pacbell address, too. Len Poli's updated website.
