The stuffer you are asking about is also sold in the UK at the sausagemaker site for �155.95

I have read the manual and it says it was printed in China. What's the bets that the machine is also made in china. That's the only way I can see it being made so cheap.

I have never used one so can't comment on how well they work or how study they are.

I can buy these machines in China for $9, I often get sent info from various Chinese manufacturers, these stuffers look ok but are very flimsy. I was recently sent a hand mincer from China similar to the Porkert one, you would have thought that the quality would have been similar but the Chinese one was awful with the tinned metal flaking off!

It was as I thought (too good to be true), so I guess I will save up for a nice stuffer.

Using my grinder to stuff is just too slow and I need something a little easier on me and faster.

I must say, for a number of people that don't actually have one, you seem to be quite opinionated. Rather unfair to prejudice the jury I would say.

I have one, and compared to using stuffing tubes on a grinder it's a godsend. I did 25 lbs of venison/pork bratwurst just last week. It performed admirably.

I have 2 complaints comparing it to superior products, like the trespade;

1. There is only a single gear ratio. Without a faster upcrank it can be a trying experience working with large quantities of meat. Worse still, the gears themselves are not steel, they're a resin or nylon. They work fine but only time will tell it they're durable enough for home use.

2. You can't stuff small sausages with the tubes provided. If you intend to stuff anything smaller than 32mm you're SOL without some additional tubes.

Interestingly, the latest Northern Tool catalogue which came in my letterbox today seels these now. For the money, I suppose it is a cheap-ish way getting into the hobby.

If you guys think there is a demand for a budget stuffer I can supply them pretty cheaply, I personally would go for the Porkert stuffer before I would use a Chinese one.

Franco I'm happy with the Reber, but I suppose there would be a demand for that type of stuffer if it is cheap enough.

As long as you gave a warning that it wasn't the best on the market I can't see any probs selling it. After all for 30-�40 even if it lasts a couple of years it's a good introduction on the cheap to stuffing sausages.

EDIT : Send me one I'll do an honest review of it.

I have one ...

It seems pretty durable (heavy & solid construction ... good welds, smooth hand ground & buffed sections, etc --- not flimsy). $70 including shipping here in US. I've stuffed a few times with it so far, and it's exponentially better than my old method (sausage stuffer kitchenaid attachment). Stuffing went from being a total time-consuming b*tch to fun & quick.

I didn't have a problem w/ the single gear ratio fatnhappy mentioned, it's high enough that it's no chore to crank, and relatively fast ejection rate (perfect speed for me at least). I haven't tried anything too small ... but it would be an issue if you were stuffing small breakfast sausages.

Direct from Grizzly seems to be the cheapest way to go ... more expensive on Northern Tool and the other resellers I found online at least.
