I'm not sure what flavors you are thinking of as "barbecue", but I've had good luck with barbecue dry rubs as spice blends for sausage. I make a pork sausage using a dry rub recipe for spareribs, with good success. There are so many dry rub spice blend recipes on the web, I'm certain you can find one to suit your taste.
