Hi All,

Has any body got a recipe for pigs in blankets. We have the notion of using chestnuts as we have a tin of them in the cupboard. Has any one tried any thing else to give that "Christmas" taste?

Thanks all.

Welcome to the forum canon can.

Not made them, but Here's a recipe from Nigella Lawson.

Thanks Oddley for your reply.

My wife normaly uses bought sausage meat, hand rolled with a rasher of streaky bacon wrapped around and then stuck in oven until ready, then served up with the Christmas dinner.
Now I have my sausage maker, I have the notion of trying to spice it up a bit. I hate waste, so I would like to get them eatable first time. My mother was frightened by a Scot before I was born, hence wastage goes against the grain

We know that chestnut stuffing is very festive and can compliment the turkey. that is why we are thinking about using them in the sausage mix.

I see no reason why you can't use chestnut in your sausages. It might be well to experiment a bit before Christmas, because sausage recipes don't always come out as you would expect.

Here is a couple of Christmas chipolata recipes, to help you along the way.

Hi All, further to my posting regarding Pigs in Blankets, I did try using chestnut puree but unfortunatley we all found it very disapointing. We could only describe the tast as "musty".
So it will be chipolata sausages wrapped in streaky bacon for us this year!

Hi guys,
I've got a question, I'm asked to make some sausages wrapped with bacon. I'm wondering what variety of sausages is usually used for this. I was wondering if the lincolnshire sausages recipe posted by Oddley would go well with this. Any suggestions?
:D
