Morning All
Just though I would let you know that I have just finished a book that goes by the name of Maynard, Adventures of a bacon curer and it is brilliant. It is more of a life storey of what happened in the old days sprinkled with some old, very old recipes some of which start "take 35lb of fine salt, 2lb of sea salt etc etc.
Maynard Davies evidently was the last of the apprenice bacon curers and the story is told in his own distincetive style, which as I have said before is really rather good.
It is published by Merlin Unwin Books in Ludlow and the ISBN No is 1-873674-64-3 priced at 9.99
Cheers WW
