Chip shop curry sauce

Postby denty632 » Sun Apr 12, 2015 1:36 am

down in the Falklands, the chippy is about to. Close.... Shock horror!

Little denty is obsessed with curry sauce. We've tried a few recipes to no avail. Any ideas? Or recipes of course!

It's 0730 here so a little early to experiment... Or try and find root ginger! Mrs Denty is a bit delicate about Sunday sleep ins...

But... As soon as I can get a leave pass to the kitchen and some ginger I'll be giving it a go.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply

Cheers

I like this one as a base (I think I still have some in my freezer, note to self):

Hi Ste, most chippies over here on the 'Motherland' serve up a curry sauce made from packet 'Maykway' curry sauce powder, where you just add boiling water ! It's quite a sweet/mild sauce and sometimes has the odd raisin floating in it.. I would ask the chip shop owner what brand he's been using and if he has any stock left over to sell you - a little goes a long way.

This one sounds a simple recipe to follow -

I'm guessing it's the only chippy on the island, in which case WHY!? ..a good chippy is a wonderful thing, especially with truly fresh fish to hand.

The curry sauce didnt get imported with the FnC shops into Australia
Our slight variation was gravy on the chips (like a chicken or beef gravy)
Australia invented the chicken salt on chips too
yet to take the plunge still researching
