Query about Collagen Casings

I am about to embark on my first attempt at sausage-making, and would just like to know whether collagen skins are better off soaked in water before stuffing? If so, for how long would you recommend?

You do not soak collagen casings.

Yes, if you soak them, I suspect they will become unusable!
