Wine Fridge as Cheese Cave

Postby Matt B » Sun Apr 13, 2008 11:09 pm

Can anyone give any input on using one of the Magic Chef or other brand Wine Cooler/Fridges as a cheese cave? They usually maintain temps in the 45f to 60f range which would be good for cheese aging. I don't know if they do anything for the humidity but that could be done by a humistat similar to cigar humidor.

Any advice?
...whats that smell?

I recently purchase a Haier drink fridge for my cheese cave. It has a full glass door which really displays the cheeses nicely. I have it on the lowest setting and it is keeping an internal temp of about 44 or 45 degrees. I may end up purchasing a remote thermostat if it turns out to be too cool. I like it so far. Sure is nice to look at the cheeses without opening the door. It is 4.6 cu. ft. with 5 shelves and no freezer.
