I have never grown any but have often thought of it. Maybe I'll try it some time. Here's a link to some info on it.

Horseradish rarely seeds and if it does the seeds are invariably non-germinating. Propagation is from a section of root known as a thong.

Hope this helps.

As I remember it, all one has to do is to find an existing horseradish bed and transplant some roots. Once established, it is self replicating and gorws like a bad weed. It is difficult to get rid of, once established, so find a corner or your plot that it won't hurt.

Thank you all now I can stop looking for seeds and start looking for plant material, I have a farmer friend that will plant it on his property as he also wants some. I somehow assumed they would be like carrots or beet.

Plant a root of horseradish in your garden and in a few years you'll have nothing but horseradish.
You can sometimes get it at herb nurseries, but the best way is just to dig some up from a field or hedgerow.

I read that if you grate horse radish they make your eyes water .Sauciisson mentioned that the root section is called a thong.Until now the only thongs I knew were the ones I see at the local beach come to think of it those make my eyes water as well.As for the rocking horse shit makes me feel I was asking the shopkeeper for a left hand screw driver.

If you get some don't ask me for advice on getting it to grow, I must be the only person on the planet whose horseradish died
