mushrooms

I have areas of fungus growing in my lawn, and wondered if I could cultivate a mushroom crop. I've grown them in prepared bags in cellars etc, but never outside, has anyone ever done this?

I once incorporated "spent" mushroom compost into an area of grass (lawn is too posh a word for it) in order to discover the following year that it wasn't as "spent" as I thought I didn't try them though, as I wasn't 100% sure that they were introduced by me.
