Healthier bread

Anything home made should be better for you, especially bread. I've made my own for years and grind my flour from organic wheat. Faced with having to provide a cholesterol reducing diet I have been substituting 20% weight of flour with porridge oats. The resulting loaf has a lovely flavour and a good texture.

Recipe
400gr bread flour, I use 50/50 wholemeal and white
100gr porridge oats
1 sachet yeast
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
1 tblsp olive oil
300 ml water

Cheers

That''s interesting Jenny. I use ground oats to make N. Staffordshire oat pancakes, but had not thought of using it in bread.
