I have had delivery of my new 2 1/2 lb bread tin from Kitchen Foods

http://www.kitchenfoods.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/kaiser30cm.html

It is just the right size for the quantities of bread in the popular forum recipe "Wheels Soft Rolls" - but forms a great loaf instead of rolls.

I should have done a photo, but the result was the best 'proper loaf' I have done to date - looks like a real loaf as the OH commented!!

I'm hi-jacking your thread Mike by re-posting my big tin picture that seems to have disappeared. I've made several more loaves in it since this first one.

Now that is a great loaf!

I'll be doing another one tonight, as I have finished the last one by having ham & green tomato chutney sarnies at lunchtime - so I'll do a picture then.

In case anyone is interested i have some straps of 3 bread tins, they are proffesional ex-bakery tins, well seasoned and in good conditioned.
I would say these are 3lb bread tins. You can easily seperate the straps into single tins with an angle grinder.

The loaf above is around 800g finished weight.

600g Lidl bread flour.
338g water.
30g lard.
13g improver.
8g sea salt.
7g Allison's easy bake yeast

The flour weight is only a starting point, more often than not I add a few pinches of flour until it feels "right" just slightly tacky

I noticed that Lidl's bread flour already has improver in it so you may not need to add any.
For the price it could be quite cost effective.
