Cool Mist Humidifier

So I have gone through several Crane cool mist humidifiers over the last few years. Admittedly I probably don't treat them the best - stored in the garage off season. Anyway got out the two from last year and neither works - one has the red light of death, the other a green light but it appears no working fan - at least I assume there is some type of fan that blows the mist up. So suggestions on getting more than one year out of them? Suggestions on others?

I think i got it at walmart..i like them as they are simple...no fan bla bla.and small..i've had two of them for over 3 years now in my curing cabinets.
