Hear that??? He's not been getting many posts to read. Somebody go down in the dungeon and kick the squirrels! They're slacking off.

You are right - I follow 3 sausage making forums and three smoker forums and all have reduced activity.

It's a pity, but as Shuswap says it's common to most forums.

The sausage/curing forums have all been hit by a couple of new facebook groups. Whilst they're good in their way, I prefer the thread based discussions of the forum format. I never thought I'd say it, but things are easier to find here!

Agree with Phil, whole heartedly.
Once a discussion disappears down the page they seem to be lost forever. I have seen articles and the following day gone looking for them. Cant find them, cant search for keywords.
Not the best social media, prefer the forums!!

I also agree with what Phil said, but I'm also to blame since I haven't posted anything in a while.
I made two Italian sausages a couple weeks ago that I'll post up later when I have a few minutes.

It wasn't intended as sarcasm, though an Eric Idle skit did come to mind. I regret that you took offense, but your comment is noted. Many forums experience a downturn in posting as better weather and outdoor activities come to the fore. We go through a lull every year in the spring and early summer.

As curing is a cool weather thing and it's getting warmer in my neck of the woods the downturn should reverse in 6 months. I also keep bees, and the as my gals warm up in the spring, then so do the special interest forums.

Choose another hobby with a seasonal interest that is 180 degrees out of phase!

I'd be here more often (& not doing anything) ..if only I could remember my password

On the plus side I do have around 30 kgs of mixed lumpwood charcoal & starter briquettes ready for the season, done a few practice BBQ smokes, on what was clearly too windy a day, & probably "sin of sins" playing around with homemade lamb & beef burger seasoning combos without salt to avoid the "mush" aspect, simply salting later, our huddle of 3 certainly didn't have any complaints.

I'm a big fan of the minced meat chunky bite in preference to salted broken down slop sitting on a plate prior to cooking,...but need to really read up on the subject.

Mutton & lamb mince, the clear favourite. (when I hide the ribs)

Pulled pork (have a few joints to play around with) & forgot to get a

Cheeses due to go for a cold smoke today, no room in fridges / freezers so frugality is the order of the day & the "choke point" is over.

To me half the pleasure of a forum is searching archival threads, social media is a security PITA which I hold in contempt.
