Im in central Qld.
A friend is on 4,500 acres just up the road he caught six pregnant sows just a few weeks back
Built pens and now has about 20 piglets
Most of the boys are suckling pigs and the girls are going to be spit roasts.
There isnt much money in sending them to Europe at the moment, its about 60cents a kilo now, most of it goes to Belgium.
There are refrigerated shipping containers on the sides of roads and you go there and deposit the gutted carcass and get paid.
So he is just stocking the freezer and breeding up some of the the wild pigs to not run out of meat.
The varieties are cross between the American Razor Back and what they call Captain Cook Pig which looks like a domestic pig with a longer snout.
So you get hairy ones and pink ones and lots of in betweens.
Plenty of Deer about after the floods fences were knocked down on a few deer farms and there has been some breeding.
Lots of Hares, Roos and Wallaby too.
But he also has cattle on his property.
yet to take the plunge still researching

Come on over, their open season here.
They are a declared pest all over Australia, there are millions, not kidding!!!.
The best is to catch a few piglets and rear them on decent tucker and they
taste as good as any sty bred pig.
The best ones come from the grain growing areas.
The one's up here in the north mainly live on road kill and scavenging.
Though most of the young ones about 12mths old are good chewing.
