Hi guys. I am looking to purchase a new but fairly cheap mincer.

Any recommendations please? :D

First advice: update your location so we know where you are, makes it easier to advise you on what is available. I use a #12 1/2 horsepower Kitchener grinder. For the price it is a great machine and can handle most meats I grinds at a good rate. If you are not doing enormous amounts (average home production) I would go with something similar. For a bit more money LEM makes a great product too ... a friend has that and it seems to get through a little better than my machine (I'm just a tad jealous I didn't buy one myself). Again, my input is North American centric, our British friends may have other options.

Hello Gary

Ditto the post from ComradeQ......the guys on here need a country of origin to give advice on sourcing machinery or products!!

Myself I'm.....UK. S.Wales to be precise. 40 years ago I was in the butchery trade but I still like to keep my "hand in" in butchery projects. I found a cheap "mincer/sausage filler" from "Lakeland". It is a basic hand cranked plastic mincer/sausage filler but I've managed to make some brilliant pork sausages with it using the mincer, then attaching the sausage filler bits. I've also made some brilliant Merguez sausages with this nifty bit of kit.

Wifey bought it for my birthday about 5 years ago and it cost £25 at the time. This is the most basic of mincers/sausage fillers...but it works.

All the best in your quest...

Terry

Hi Gary,
I'm in Greece but bought an electric mincer from a uk registered company - "Andrew James" on paper it had a good spec with an 1800 watt motor (This turned out to be 1800 watt locked however & I would imagine 6-800 watt to be more realistic) Anyway, I have had it now for two years without problems so far & delivery cost from the UK was reasonable (should it be needed) I use it mainly for sausages & burgers, which are normally made a couple of times a month - Around 50 kilos in all. I can normally grind around ten kilos at a time in about half an hour (normally twice) Don't know what the spare parts situation would be like & it is in fact Chinese made (Oooh) :D But after two years & for what I paid, it don't owe me anything ! The Andrew James outlet is on ebay & under title of Durham Auctions. You can go direct to the company, but for some reason international postage was more.

There's one here:

http://www.sausagemaking.org/acatalog/E ... ncers.html

But it's £59. I assume that it's up to the job as it's for sale at the forum owners shop.

An alternative would be:

http://www.butchers-sundries.com/mgb-12 ... 1691-p.asp

I know nothing of this machine, but as it's being sold by a butchers' sundries-man assume that it too will be OK.

I'm sure either will be fine as long as you don't ask too much of them.

Hi
Phil, the first link is telling me its £359.00.

The second is similar to mine and works well enough, better mincer than stuffer.
