Dear oh dear how hard can it be!?

None in the supermarkets unless where talking a small pep-et of pure dried salted tears of upset garden fairies!

Ebay yield nothing but Himalayan Pink Salt.

Any pointers in the right direction, all I can source is salt with anti caking, unless its ok the use Himalayan Pink Salt?

Local wholefood shops usually have good deals on sea salt. Or even the supermarkets if you don't want too much. Or google 'Buy Trapani sea salt' brings up a number of suppliers.

Look up for local suppliers of PDV salt. I find that if I look for specialist sellers of water softener salt pellets/blocks that they'll order 25kg bags of food grade PDV salt for about £6.00. PDV salt is usually all very finely ground which might not suit every application though. In my case it is the independent bulk pet food/bird food outlet on the industrial estate that sells all types of salt in 25kg bags.
PDV salt is available in 10kg bags from Bookers if you can get an account with them, but is no cheaper than above.
Coarse sea salt is very cheap in continental supermarkets. Less than 15cents a kg in Portugal for example. Always worth bringing a bag or few back, and there's no problem in carrying it as hand luggage ( apart from the weight).

Sorry, I should have mentioned PDV. I don't use it, so I overlooked it. It's usually much cheaper than sea salt; I paid around £12 for a 25kg bag of French sea salt whereas the PDV's half that. Trapani is about £1.50 per kg. That said, for the home-curer 25kg's one heck of a lot of bacon.! The 1kg bags are probably a more sensible size.

For either the cost is pennies per kg.
