Hi Bern,

1) Don't type in upper case - it is like shouting and no good form :-)

2) Go to www.biltongbox.com/forums/ - there is a biltong making forum there.

3) Size doesn't really matter. Easiest bet is to use a cheap kitchen cabinet and drill some holes in it.

Hi, making a biltong is really easy. The only thing you need is to ensure that you get a good flow of air. as long as it stays dry cardboard is really good way to experiment, before you try building a wooden one. If you need any help give me a shout.

Size is not critical - here is the link with a simple diagram showing the size of my box:

Hi Banjo

How did you come about your nickname?

When I was serving in the Army many years ago , we referred to a bacon sandwich as a BANJO !

What sketches are you referring to? My biltong box ones? Never had that complaint - there are some photos of a finished box there too.

I mean no disrespect to you personally however, the sketches that the site mentioned returned; at least for me; were made up of ASCII characters and completly unclear. I will certainly go further and check out the photos as I'm interested in producing Biltong here in Thailand.

If you want to do it commercially then don't mess about- buy an industrial commercial drier:

Thanks for the link. Though I was not looking at doing this commercially, the site mentioned at least did give me some dimensions to be looking at. What people tend to forget is that cooking, smoking, dryiing etc. is a science and as such follows certain principles and will EVERY TIME.
