Forum Offline

Postby Bob » Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:50 pm

The forum was not available this weekend - what a bummer.

The last time this happened the ISP was offline. So it would seem the problem is not with the forum itself but with the ISP hosting it.

It is inexcusable for an ISP to be offline these days. It's time to find another one because this is going to happen over and over again.

Bob the the server was not down (Provider of hosting = GConnect server hosting) as the shop site was still up.

It looked from the error report as a database connection problem. These things happen with php and mysql.

It's happened before. My point is that participation will fall off if something is not done to prevent this from happening again.

I have been on forums like this for years and never had this happen. Whatever the sorry excuse, it is unacceptable.

BoB: If this were a mission critical forum, i'd agree. Sausagemaking isn't mission critical in my book :-)

If it's worth participating in, then it's mission critical.

Are you saying that it is not worth participating in?

No, i'm saying it is worth participating in, and it is not mission critical. It's a hobby after all.
