I don't believe it

Postby deb » Wed Feb 02, 2005 3:26 pm

I put a nice piece of brisket in to cure a few days ago to make some salt beef. I've cooked it up today and it looks good, but I've got a rotten cold and can't taste a thing. I was going to make a loaf of rye bread and have some lovely hot salt beef on rye but it's not worth me eating it at the moment, I might as well eat cardboard for all the taste I've got. I'll just have to try it cold in a couple of days time and report back to you. Ah well, such is life.

Hiya deb

What recipe did you use? Did you use a cure powder? Shame you can't tell us how it came out.

Anyway get better soon.

Hi Oddley. I used a recipe from a book called "Preserved". I'm not sure what it tastes like, I gave it a try and it seems a little bland but of course it could be my taste at the moment. I cooked a piece of pork belly coated in Cajun spice mix and according to hubby it was nice, I however didn't have a clue what it was like. I used a recipe of Hugh F-W to make salt beef before and it was pretty good, I hope this one is too.

Thanks for the well wishes.
