Try this http://www.essexpigcompany.co.uk/. This is the farm from the TV. Just up the road from me in Ipswitch.

Hi,
New to the forum, but have watched since christmas.

We keep a few pigs mainly Large White X Landrace.Moving to Berkshire and Oxford Sandy and Blacks shortly. We have the pigs slaughtered locally and cut-up as required by friendly butcher.

Have dabbled with some bacon curing with varying degrees of
sucess. As suggested on the forum we seem to get better results when
using pork from female pigs (gilts) rather than males (boars). We've
got some on the go at the moment ,should be ready for breakfasts at
the weekend.

Will continue watching with interest and will be happy to try and answer any questions regarding pigs, forum members may have.
Tracey.

Hi robin

welcome to the forum

I always use the best pork I can find for my bacon and you can definitely tell the difference, it's well worth the extra cost IMO.

Most people agree that the meat texture and flavour of the Old Breeds is much better the a lot of the newer ones, and I think the fat is better too!

Welcome to the forum tradane,

I would love to rear my own pigs, but just don't have the space.
But I'm always on the lookout for a small plot of land coming up for sale/rent within cycling distance.

Ever hopeful :)
