Planetary mixers

Postby Max Geronimo » Thu Oct 06, 2005 3:28 am

Greetings!

I'm in the market for a good size mixer, around 25kg load capacity.

Unfortunately the typical meat mixer (horizontal drum type) here in the Philippines is around 3 times the price of a planetary mixer of the same capacity.

Has anyone used a planetary mixer for mixing coarse ground sausage meat?

How were the results?

If ever, what attachement is best suited for mixing ground meat? The typical flat beater, the K-beater attachment, or dough hook?

Thanks for any help given!

BTW, great board!

Hi Max

Welcome to the forum

Re the planetary mixer, Yes I have used these before with very good results using both the hook & the K beater.
The K beater is quicker so therefore in my opinion better as the hook take so long the mix tends to warm up.
Use the mixer on speed one
If you start making pork pies then use speed two and the hook for the hot water paste

Hope this helps
