Northern Tool equipment quality

Postby SteveW » Tue Oct 16, 2012 11:06 am

I'm going to upgrade to an electric mincer and vertical stuffer this christmas. I've had a look at the Northern tool site and can get the grinder and stuffer for just under £200. Does anyone have any opinions, good or bad , about Northern tool quality or after sales care please.

I would recommend upgrading to the 5L stuffer to get the metal gears if you can. I got the 3L stuffer and my resin gears broke, and I wasn't forcing it either. They just misaligned and one snapped off. NT Usa shipped a replacement out quickly when I returned it ($17 postage).

I also have a kitchener mincer #12 and it's breaking down but I got it out of hock at a pawnshop so I think that this specific review is pretty worthless.

I thought they made ballpoint pens??

It certainly looks up to the job, like a small commercial machine.
I'd be a little bit concerned about the corrosion though.

I'm not too concerned about the corrosion, as long as it's not too bad inside. I had a look at the manufacturer's site and new ones go for around $1,700

I've seen Biro grinders in shops over here, they certainly appear very well built.

It's over £200 now........... never mind. It's looking more like Northern Tool will be getting my money.

Steve

With Northern Tool the equipment is often the same in the UK as in the US - but, there's usually more reviews on the US site.

So, for example, this mixer in the US has 56 reviews, whereas this UK one has about 10.

Oh well, that's as clear as mud! But hopefully you get my point?

Thanks Phil,
The reviews seem to be good with the odd bad one. They're back in stock the end of the month so if nothing turns up on ebay I'll be getting one of them.
