Hi, I'm trying to find a food grade lube for my stuffer and grinder to protect them after cleaning. What do you guys use and where do you get it from? UK answers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

To protect, meaning from corrosion, for that just a light coat of veg oil will work fine. For a grease type product google: http://www.google.com/search?client=saf ... 8&oe=UTF-8

I use products from a Japanese company Shinetsu, they have a lot of different viscocities.

If you can get it just use mineral oil, it will not go rancid like vegetable oil. I use it on everything; stuffer, grinder, wood cutting board, wife, etc...

Talk to any industrial chemical or oil supplier and ask for 'food grade white mineral oil'. There are a number of viscosities available, but if it's going to be for oiling after cleaning then storage, get one that's a little thick, similar to vegetable oil. Clean parts, and while still hot oil down and let cool, then store. I was told the hot parts (especially on cast iron) allow the oil to penetrate the metal better and makes for a more secure storage.

I don't know about the UK, but I can get a 55 gallon drum delivered from a half-dozen companies locally in 12 hours, so it has to be similar over there.
