Morrisons £4.99 per kilo whole Salmon deal

Postby GUS » Wed May 29, 2013 5:54 pm

Apologies if someone has already posted,

EXPIRES: 02/06/2013
Fresh whole scottish salmon is now half price at £4.99 a kilo, reduced from £9.99.

Offer ends 2nd June at Morrisons
Apparantly this is a national deal, however best to ring & check / get some put aside for you if the price is right.

Am I ok to freeze? as my smoker is not here yet, nor have I got dust supplies yet.

sorry for the ignoramous question! prefer to ask than be in trouble with the wife, fridge no 1 is packed to the gills.

Hi Gus,
A lot of my Canadian friends always freeze their salmon, either whole or filleted. Most are of the opinion that they cure and smoke better.
I have tried it with farmed salmon but couldn't tell the difference. The end result was always fantastic.
My preference is hot smoked salmon with a nice mahogany colour.
Buy up big Mate while it's cheap. Make sure you wrap it all properly.
Good Luck,
Jan.

I freeze it, both before and after smoking.

If you have access to Makro, the fillet is on sale at £7.99/kg - also a good offer.
