Bought myself a Berkel meat slicer

WOW - what a bit of kit. It dwarves my old useless machine, and is far, far quieter. Needs a ruddy good clean before the first use, but for £91 it was a steal. The blade looks like it needs some attention around the edge, so I'll see what I can do with it. Apparently it has a built in knife sharpener too? If the blade can't be saved I'll fork out for a new one. I believe they cost in the region of £110, but even at £200 total I reckon this will be a bargain :D

Pauline loves the Berkel. I prefer my Bizerba. Needless to say, it'll be the Bizerba that's going!

Which model is it?

I have one as well and love it. I put it on a cart so I can roll it to the closet when not in use. On my model, 909, the blade sharpener is built in at the top.

Yes, it's on the top of mine. The sharpening wheels have to be lifted up and slotted over the blade.

It's in a crate, buried under some other boxes at the moment. If the weather is decent tomorrow, I'll take it out to give it a good clean and see if I can find the model number 8)

Envious, I used to work for Avery Berkel, should have got one then but was not into curing etc at the time, used to service the old manual berkel bacon slicers too, still a few in use down in sussex.

The old red ones fetch serious money nowadays.
