Franco I have noticed that it is exceedingly difficult to get Liqiud smoke in a liquid or dry form in the UK only 1 place and the selection is very small on flavours so I think it would be great if you sold it. I would certainly buy some.

If you need a supplier I have found 1 for you Zesti-Smoke they sell all types and have a headquarters in the UK.

Also Lucus is a wholesaler that I believe sell it.

Telephone: 0800 138 5837

It's an 0800 number so It costs nothing to enquire

hey Fatman there is an amusing story here. I rang up Lucus with the intention of trying to bluff them into believeing i owned a butchers to try to buy some liquid smoke off them.

Well when the phone was answered
"I said "hello I would like some leaflets for your products as we in the shop want to expand our range of sausages and cured meats" He said "Well its not really worth sending out leaflets. We will send a representative around to your shop to discuss what products we can supply you with. Whats your postcode Mr ***." With that I said "My postcode is" and then hung up I was well embaressed. lol

BTW have you got a stutter

smoke etc.

I use powdered smoke in some of the sausage mixes I sell, it is a natural hickory smoke powder and is highly concentrated, it has a recommened usage rate of 0.05% of finished products so in small scale use it is not practical as it is very hard to measure accurately. I can sell this but it isn't cheap and costs me over 40 per kilo!! If anyone would like some let me know and I'll let you have a small amount at cost.

the other alternative is a product called 'scansmoke' which is the best liquid smoke on the market, it is made from natural beec wood and the finished product sausage or bacon etc. is dipped in it, with this product the smoke tastes is only on the outside whereas the powdered smoke the taste is all the way through.
If there is demand for either I will put them on the website pretty quickly as I keep both in stock.

Product info on the Scansmoke is here

Incidentally if anyone requires any Lucas products let me know as I have an account with them and they deliver in my area weekly.

Hello Franco. could you not just buy in bulk repackage the lucus smoke powder or liquid and sell it to us. I know there would be a markup we have all got to make a living. But it is a generous offer thanks.

So where is the smoke then?

Thanks for putting the smoke online. Can you tell me if it is water soluble? If not, what is it soluble in? Mixing .5g per kilo will be difficult unless you dissolve it in something.

Aris,
I don't think that it is fully soluble in water, I mix mine with salt and it is easier to measure that way, by the way it's use is0.05% per kilo not 0.5%

Franco - Your description on the shop page says 0.5g per kilo (which is what I wrote above). Is this incorrect?

Usage rate is .05% of finished product which equates to .5 gramme per kilo,(sorry my mistake  )
