I know this is an old thread, but being a newbie I just came
across it.
And I can say it is most helpful, as I've no idea how much
casing to prepare and no doubt would always have too much.
I've saved it and can now refer to it each time.
Thanks for sharing.

Gary.

Is this calculator available elsewhere, as the original link now says "page not found"?

It's not, but this does the same thing. I've just copied the original calculator specs, so can't comment on it's accuracy:

Please give me feedback as to the casing type, size and capacity lb/yard or similar. I'm trying to develop a more accurate calculator geared to casing size. For example sheep's can be anything from (say) 18mm to 28mm so the capacity will vary greatly. The more info I can collate, the more accurate it will be.

The casings I purchased only say they will fill 100 pounds of meat. There is no length labeled on the packages only weight. My beef middlings are labeled 29/32mm and 38/40mm. Sheep casings 20/22mm. Beef bung 4.5 inches. It would be nice if you could get the casing sizing the Local Hero’s used in thier caculator.

That's the problem - hence me wanting members actual experiences of lb/yard, kg/m etc.
