I am also on the quest for the holy grail - a decent domestic slicer than can cope with a length of streaky or back bacon. There are some reasonably powerful machines (200w) such as the Lakeland Plastic one which should handle a good home cure. The problem is ALWAYS the length of the slider/carriage. I have not yet found one that can handle a slab of more than 20cms. My home cures are usually 24-28cms and I'm not after losing 10% of my delicious grub to fit the machine! Anyone still digging on this ?

Ah, the holy grail, a flat bed slicer - Nice! :D :D

...but, depending on distance from where you live, there are others worth a look (or at least asking questions to find out more).

Looking at them, there's a couple around here that I may 'take a punt on' if they're sub £40 - to sell on. I also see a RM-M251ce for £360! I paid £150 for my 301 (larger bladed) version of the same machine! Just shows, you can get a bargain.

Keep on top of Google and the other sites, ask on freecycle, and don't forget your local rag, mine takes adverts under £100 free - so many choose this option.

Good luck

Phil

That's the same one I have, it's perfect for me. I got a bargain on ebay but it's worth every penny at half price..... I'm amazed know one's snapped it up.
