Reber Vacuum Packer

Postby Oddley » Tue Feb 01, 2005 11:50 am

I am at the moment developing wet method ham cures using Old recipes, calculated to a safe level. As I'm doing it in the bottom of the fridge I thought a vacuum packer a good idea to save the mess.

Has anybody used Franco's Vacuum packer? It's quite a lot of money to pay if it don't do what I want it too.

Franco will you give an me a discount so I can try it and do a review on it.

Thanks Franco. I'll give you a ring in a couple of weeks. If I find it Good I'll give a review with images.

As you know I'm quite interested in sausages and making cured meats so I don't think it will be my last order.

I would be interested in the review, as the vacuum packer I brought for 40 off ebay is rubbish, it lives in the cupbourd now and I use zip bags. So would buy a reber if they are any good.

Aris
Its a bifinette 2 wire vacuum packer. The reason its rubbish is that there is very little suction so in theory you are just heat sealing. also the bags are difficult to get hold of and expensive.

I took a look at you website today first time for ages its looking good. do the companys on there supply to home users or just trade?

The reber also uses special bags, but Franco does sell them on the website too. They can be a bit dear, but you can wash and re-use them if you want.

vacuum packers

I use a reber vacuum packer nearly every day, the suction is excellent but the only thing it struggles with is liquids so vac packing soup isn't possible.
