21mm collagen casings and reber tube

Postby Shaun » Wed Mar 02, 2005 10:07 am

I am having difficulty fitting 21mm collagen casings onto the small reber tube. I can only get around four foot of casing on at a time. I have tried putting oil on the tube but dont get much more on. Has anyone come across this and managed to overcome it?

I know you posted regarding this a while back, did you get an outcome?

Yep I have the same problem - it is a real PITA.

Note that natural casings do not have this problem - they are able to stretch.

The solution is to get a stright stuffing tube rather than ones which are tapered. I've looked around for some - but can't seem to find any which are compatible. Allied Kenco in the US have some listed on their website, but upon doing the measurements, they don't look like they will fit - though I cannot be sure unless you actually try them.

Hopefully Franco will be able to source some alternatives.

AlliedKenco sell a set with a 2" flange mount. I measured the Reber ones, and the mounts were slightly larger than 2" - though that does not mean it will not work. Also - AlliedKenco do not seem to like shipping outside of the USA.

Maybe someone on here that is a bit handy with a welder/ braiser could make a killing.

Ideally you want a tube that is made from one piece of metal - not welded.
