Best Mincer for beginner

Where to buy, how to use. Stuffers, casings, spices, grinders, etc.

Yorkie, I don't need a funnel cos with my current stuffer the body is removable and I will use that vertically. All she will have to do is pour in a set amount of the mix. I could even clamp it vertically to one of the outdoor chairs or even the back door if I remove the plunger, which only takes a few seconds. Then she won't have to get involved. I will however, cover the floor with polythene just in case. I shall only make it in small batches as the wife has similar tastes to yours ie doesn't like black pudding. I'll send one up to the father in law though cos he likes it.
I'll let you know, might be a week or two.

Question:- Can Black Pudding be frozen once cooled?

Paul I see no reason why black pudding cannot be frozen as it is pretty much sterile if using dried blood.

The taste might change though as with most things frozen. Please keep us updated on this.

Oddley, you were up early to make that post, you must be on the same cholesterol tablets as me.. the ones that make you wake up as soon as your body is in a horizontal position.

I will make a slightly bigger batch and freeze some. I don't know how flavoured the mix is but I shall add white pepper. My local Co-op used to do a very tastey 'scottish' version which was very peppery.. it was also very 'cartilage-y' and on occasions 'bristley'... hence the order.

As I say, it will be a few weeks but will keep you informed.

Hi Paul

I always freeze my black pudding, I have also just tasted some from the Midland's that was superb, the secret they used fresh leeks in the mix.

I always freeze mine too. It has very little effect on the texture and flavour.
