Casings: Where to purchase?

Postby JLPicard » Sun Feb 05, 2012 3:22 pm

I am looking for the best bang for the buck here in the US. Would these work good for Snack Sticks: http://www.butcher-packer.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=85_92_98&products_id=262 ? I prefer natural casings, but can't believe what the prices are these days. Do the collagen casings allow the smoke to permeate into the meat well enough?

They will work fine, I prefer the 19 mm ones though.

They work great. Just made some snack sticks with those casings this past weekend.

I get the 19 mm smoked cases from Butcher packer or I pick them up at Gander mountain when I'm in their store. I believe LEM products have 17 mm cases .I haven't tried them yet.
