Yes, not content with being the go to guy for local marmite "heads" I am aiming at intercontinental domination by means of unleashing smoked vegemite onto unsuspecting antipodeans.

(will tell you the results when the jar is deemed "cooked" enough). ..it's akin to an out of work actor currently.

this stuff is grot & not the true gold that is marmite, I'll be doing em a favour by adding in some flavour

Smoked worcestershire (yes Lea&P) did not take smoke well, it was negligibly flavoured even after a mega burn session & maturation, gad I only used a smidgen.

going to do some golden syrup when I remember, if that takes like the maple syrup did it should be good.

I used to help make Vegemite.... in a way
My summer job was at Fosters.
I had to get in the tank and squeegee the spent yeast into a drain that got sucked up into a truck that then went to make Vegemite.
Dont know how smoked would work as its so massively concentrated in flavour I dont know if another profile would fit.
Be hard to change the flavour and convert the masses,it has a religious status amongst its followers.

I dont mind a thin smear on buttered toast or a spoon full in a stew/soup/gravy as an umami boost.

Snags, it worked very well with the Marmite tests (upon suitable maturation) which is why I have done some for Vegemite.

Smoked marmite is now my favoured marmite If I had enough ready i'd eat it daily.
