Hi all having my sausage making machine delivered on Monday....wooohooo lol and eventually I would like to try cold smoking some of my creations.......

I have come up with a rough idea and was wondering if it would work ok

1/ Garden incinerator with a length of flexible tubing of some description attatched to the chimney of the aforementioned incinerator.

2/ The other end of the flexible tubing attached to an old fridge at the bottom. Hole drilled in to top of fridge and length of polypipe siliconed for chimney.

Will this configuration work? and would it require either a fan in the fride to suck the smoke in, or an air pump fitted somewhere? :?: :?: :?:

It might, and a high enough burn rate in the incinerator may be enough to drive the whole process without the need for electrickery. Getting the balance right without incinerating the contents of the fridge is where the art comes in. Give us a shout if you need any help. Personally I think it would work best if it goes out unless you have to pump some air in, that way you are in control :)

If the fridge is above the height of the incinerator, and you have a good chimney it, it should draw fine.

My own set-up is a (butchered) 2 drawer filing cabinet to produce smoke for cold smoking , or to use as a hot smoker. This feeds into a stainless steel box that's fridge-like in size etc. The feed pipe is flexible 100mm aluminium (the type for air-con units - off ebay). I keep meaning to fix the pipe so that it has a slope between the two; at the moment the smoke has to travel down before it rises to the cold smoker! It still draws through OK though.

Go for it!
